Sun shines again

Its been really gloomy past few days. Sun was playing seek and hide with us, but today sun shined in all its glory. I wasn't expecting it to do so with weatherman predicting showers for today, so I slept longer. Only to wake up and find a perfectly lit bedroom with sun rays shining thorugh the window. Just couldn't help myself capturing the moment that I have seen many times but its worth to record for a bit longer. You may never know when you get to see this again.

Autumn Colors

This is from my old prosumer camera, which in its time was top of the line (but way down in features now). It has an ultra sharp leica lens with 20x zoom. Tpicture displayes all the colors of autumn in one place. Highlands (where I live) has quite a few majestic trees lined up next to the swimming pool. Fortunatley for me, all these trees are at different stages of coloring, you can find green to yellow to orange to deep red next to each other. I just stripped out a band from the original picture.

The lone ranger

Trying my hands at selective coloring. The pic looked good in color as well, but selective coloring really makes the maple leaf stand out (click to see the larger version). The autumn is over here and winters have kicked in, such a sight is quite common these days. I am thinking of one more of such a pic, probably of a tree with red leaves on the road, with selective coloring. I wonder how would that look.

There is something that leaf and I have in common, I guess it makes this pic hold a different sort of value for me.

begining

I guess I expressed my intentions before, to click potraits. How is this for a begining? Just could not keep myself away from clicking yet another nature inspired picture. It was very sunny the day I clicked this pic and wasn't carrying a UV filter, else I guess the wings would have come out better. Though the red color of this dragon fly is blending well with the wooden background.

sun and set

These pics are again from my hiking trip to bear Moutain, NY. I was just trying my hands in against the sun photography, its interesting to see how different foregrounds and camera settings can affect the details captured in the picture. Note none of the pictures are digitally enhanced. They are right off the cam (not because I would have published them that way, but because I was too lazy to make the changes :) ).
Both the pictures above and below are from the same location, but different frames and different timings. The one below is when the sun was almost about to set, making the whole sky orange. Even with the DSLR the objects in shadow have come out a bit grainy, wonder how can i correct them.

Simplicity

Its amazing what you can get out of a seemingly simple photograph. Today was somewhat of a gloomy day, Clouds hovering over whole day. This is was one of the rare moments of the day when sun shined. My room was looking quite beautiful (even after me trying so hard to keep it looking like a bachelor pad) , I could not resist taking out my cam and capturing few random shots.

This picture appeals me, however I am not sure how to put the appeal into words. would someone like to help me out?

Moon

This is one of my favorite objects for a quick and awesome looking picture.. The Moon. Nobody can doubt its beauty. Last time when i tried capturing it, it was with my prosumer camera with 10X optical zoom, I tried capturing it with 48X digital zoom and with little bit of post processing even that looked stunning.

This time its with my new DSLR with 200mm zoom lens. Apart from cropping the picture, its untouched from when it came out of the cam. Pretty nice capture aint it.
